A practical checklist for visitor induction checklist.

When to use it

Use this checklist before a shift, before a contractor task, during weekly inspections or after a layout change. It should create a clear record of what was checked and what needs action.

Checklist

  • Confirm the area is clean, lit and free from obvious obstructions.
  • Check pedestrian routes, crossings, exclusion zones and signs.
  • Look for damaged racking, pallets, guards, bollards or dock equipment.
  • Verify emergency exits, extinguishers and access paths are clear.
  • Record defects with photos, responsible person and due date.
  • Escalate any uncontrolled immediate risk before work continues.
  • Review whether CCTV, lighting or access records are needed for follow-up.

Record keeping

Record the date, inspector, area, defects, action owner and completion evidence. Do not leave issues sitting in a checklist without allocating responsibility.
